The management of returns from the stores has emerged as a big challenge for the retailers, especially for the apparel sellers. Returned SKUs from the stores of any retail company come back to the distribution centres or dedicated returns processing centres in a very unorganized manner and it becomes very difficult and time consuming for the manpower to sort them. Even with all the efforts, the required productivity with desired accuracy cannot be achieved.
Falcon Autotech offers focussed solutions using sorting technologies to sort the returned SKU eaches logically, and help leading fashion retailers to save a lot of manpower and time involved in the process with increased accuracies. The following process flow outlines the solution concept:
Download of ASN/receipt data from WMS.
Received eaches are fed onto the sorter infeeds.
Barcodes on the eaches are read by the barcode scanning system placed on the sorter.
The eaches are then sorted into chutes style-wise/SKU-wise/ article-no. wise / etc.
Chutes once allocated for any style/SKU/article no./etc. remains the same for other store returns that are being fed for a wave.
The carton capacity can be predefined and once the predefined number of pieces have been sorted into a carton, the sorting at that output stops with an indication for the operator to replace the full carton with an empty one.
The operator then presses confirmation button to resume sorting again on the replaced carton.
Upon pressing of confirmation button an attached printer prints a carton label which comprises of information of contents emptied into that carton from the chute.
The printed label is applied onto the carton and the filled carton is taped and moved further for put away.
